The Snowy Mountains and Lake Jindabyne

Jindabyne is the closest town to the NSW ski fields of Perisher, Thredbo and Charlottes Pass.

It is popular with skiers and snowboarders for accommodation during the snow season and is about 30 minutes drive from Thredbo and Perisher.

Outside of the snow season it is a popular destination for adventure tourism.

Activities include in the surrounding areas; bush walking, mountain biking on Lake Jindabyne trout fishing, sailing, water skiing and wakeboarding.

Jindabyne is also home to a number of shops, restaurants, and cafes, as well as a beautiful lake that is perfect for swimming and picnicking.

The local population is about 2,500, swelling to multiples of that during peak snow season. It lies on the shores of Lake Jindabyne, which is an artificial lake created for the Snowy Mountains Scheme in the 1950’s.
